Starting with a very constricted lot on a desirable lake, the owner needed to create a home that would be long and narrow, yet accomplish all the living spaces for a busy family. Placing the windows facing the side and the lake provided daylighting and focused vistas. Designed for living lakeside, the house has a deck, walkout basement, and tall windows in the living room. In the off-season, the lower level swimming pool and sauna provide entertainment and a place to gather.

In a home shared by three generations, we needed to add a bit more space that would blend indoors and outdoors. The solution was a stacked set of spaces: family room over a four-season room, extending to a deck over a screen porch.
